The woodturning guild that I belong had a great guest demonstrator today. Jimmy Clewes is on the road again and came to our guild for a great day long demonstration. In between all of the laughing an joking, there was 7 hours so jam packed with information, tips and tricks that I am still trying [...] Morrison Commission After many delays, I finally have completed this bowl and sent it out to the customer. I really hope that they enjoy it. I attached the caster wheel assemblies to the base today. While I was at it, I put the bed back on also. I made some leveling feet also. I didn’t think to take a picture of the wheel assemblies. [...] While this isn’t breaking any technological ground, I needed some home made 5/8” bolts to use as part of the stabilizing feet for the “Wilson Project”. I ran to the hardware store and got casters also. That’s all for today. A couple of grinder wheels later and the bed has been chopped in preparation to be reassembled. I have to make some caster assemblies before it goes back together. It was too dark to take pictures. I went to Steve’s “Taj Magarage” as I call it to g get Wilson. That’s make of the machine lathe that is being donated to the cause. We broke down the lathe and remove what I didn’t need and loaded it up on the trailer. You’d be surprised what a Neon and a trailer can [...] I received an interesting phone call today. A friend called and asked if I had built my big lathe yet. Of course, no was the answer. I have been mulling it over for a few years now. I haven’t been able to make up my mind on how I want to design it, but I [...] I’ve added some new bowls to the gallery. A cousin of mine was wondering how such a pepper mill was created. He’s done segmented turning before, but for reasons unknown to the universe, he was just drawing a blank on how to get started setting up this kind of turning blank. With pictures being worth a thousand words, I fired [...] |
